Chandan Narayan (Director)

Chandan is an Associate Professor of Linguistics in the Department of Languages, Literatures, and Linguistics at York. He's also a member of the Graduate Faculty in Psychology. His areas of expertise are infant and adult speech perception, acoustic phonetics, sound change, and the speech-cognition interface. He has degrees from UC Berkeley and the University of Michigan. 

Andrew Peters (Graduate Student, Linguistics)

Andrew is an MA student in Linguistics interested in forced phoneme alignment (in the lab) and syntax in Chinese languages more generally.

Kristen M. Kern (Graduate Student, Linguistics)

After graduating from York's undergraduate linguistics program (BA), Kristen is now a master's student with interests in a broad range of topics, including Hindi linguistics, correlations of functional anatomy patterning and language, and analyses of emotion and deception. She will be focusing on nasality in Tagalog in the lab.

Esti Kass (Honors BA Student, Cognitive Science)

Esti will be working in the lab during the 2016-17 year on a project involving talker discrimination.

Daniel Wilson (Honors BSc Student, Psychology)

Daniel will be working in the lab investigating the vocal tract physiology of Tuvan throat-singers.

Sunny Vanessa Woldenga-Racine (Lab Manager)

After completing a double major in German Studies and Linguistics at York (BA), Sunny is now pursuing an MSc in Computational Linguistics with the University of Washington. She will also be working in the lab on the talker discrimination, Tagalog nasals, and Tuvan throat-singers projects.

Alia AlSairafi (Honors BA Student, Linguistics)

Alia will be volunteering in the lab on the talker discrimination, Tagalog nasals, and Tuvan throat-singers projects.

Ashley Bain (Honors BA Student, Linguistics)

Ashley will be volunteering in the lab on the talker discrimination, Tagalog nasals, and Tuvan throat-singers projects.

Jad Daou (Honors BA Student, Psychology)

Jad will be volunteering in the lab on the talker discrimination, Tagalog nasals, and Tuvan throat-singers projects, with a focus on the talker discrimination project.

Tamsin Magor (Honors BA Student, Linguistics)

Tamsin will be volunteering in the lab on the talker discrimination, Tagalog nasals, and Tuvan throat-singers projects.

Lily McDermott

Lily was an honors undergraduate student in Linguistics and managed activities at the lab. She is now teaching English in Japan.

Katie Tetzloff, M.A.

Katie was a MA student working on perception and production issues related to Grassmann's law. She is now working on her Ph.D. in Linguistics at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.

Serg Fazylau

Serg was an honors undergraduate student in Cognitive Science. He is now finishing his professional training in Speech Pathology at the University of Toronto.
